Bitcoin Ordinals Not Dead! Taproot Wizards Opens Public Sale

Taproot Wizards, a Bitcoin Ordinals project, has announced the public sale of its "Wizards" NFT collection, scheduled for March 25, 2025. This collection comprises 2,121 unique wizard images, inspired by the 2013 "Bitcoin Wizard" meme.

Allowlist Sale: Early access will be granted to allowlist members, enabling them to mint Wizards NFTs at a price of 0.2 BTC each. Eligibility for the allowlist was achieved through participation in the "Wizard School" on Discord, where members completed various quests, including interactive challenges and creative submissions.

Public Dutch Auction: Following the allowlist sale, any remaining NFTs will be available through a Dutch auction. This auction will start at a higher price, which will decrease progressively over time. The exact starting price will be disclosed closer to the auction date.

Collectors holding "entangled" pairs of Quantum Cats NFTs—another Ordinals collection by the Taproot Wizards team—are eligible for a 50% discount, allowing them to mint a Wizards NFT for 0.1 BTC.

Co-founded by Udi Wertheimer and Eric Wall, Taproot Wizards aims to showcase technological innovations expanding Bitcoin's capabilities, such as the reactivation of the OP_CAT function. In February 2025, the project secured $30 million in funding led by Standard Crypto to support the development of OP_CAT applications on Bitcoin.
